Gone Are The Days

Gone are the days

Loitering in the meadows

Chasing the cattle

Wearing tiny boots

Gone are the days

Asking for butter every morning

Begging for five Ngultrum

To have fun with marbles

Gone are the days

Singing nursery rhymes

Listening to fairy tales

Every English period

Gone are the days

Focusing on teaching

With fear of failure

At the end of the year

Gone are the days

Training yourself to be

The one you are trained to be

To nurture the future citizens

And ye comes the time

To walk the talk

Turning every stone

To precious gold

Ye comes the time

To dedicate the work

And change the world

Of every student I encounter

Born to be the one

With the fate I would say

To make a difference

And that’s what I’ll do
