Preparedness Drill-2013

The tedious customary institutional day awakened by the siren blow.

As usual, the classes were in progress and everybody occupied in their normal tasks when the alarm of siren surprised the YMSS family. It took less than ten seconds for children to comprehend the intention of the sound that they’ve perceived when they took the position of DROP, HOLD and COVER.

The programme was in line with the nationwide earthquake preparedness mock drill programme to prepare and keep the children informed and remind them of the disaster that hit Eastern Bhutan in 2009.

It was a great test and assessment of whether the children are all set in the real event of disaster, since the school has invested considerable time in preparing the children and the staff for such unpredictable event.

The children and the staffs’ reaction were swift and have demonstrated certain degree of understanding about the necessary tips that they need to remind of themselves in the event of disaster.

There was no report of any causality during the mock drill.
