Inter class extempore speech

posted Apr 15, 2013, 2:09 AM by Sonam Leki   [ updated Apr 15, 2013, 2:16 AM ]

Two students (a boy and a girl) were selected from each class which makes up to a total of 28 participants. The classes were categorized into senior and junior. The senior category consisted of classes nine and ten and the five sections of seven and eight were put in the junior category. Different levels of questions were prepared as per the categories.

The competition commenced exactly at twelve noon after the fourth period and ended at 1:30 on 13th of April. It was a complete student centered programme where every role was played by students starting from time keeper to chairperson.

The programme began with the welcome speech by one of the members of the literary committee followed by the briefing on the guidelines and criteria by the chairperson.

I am forced by my own excitement to mention here how the very first participant with his wit amused the audience at large. “If you were an animal just for 24 hrs, which animal would you like to be? Why?  The audience was all waiting for something big to come by, while he tickled everyone into laughter by choosing to be a mosquito.  Why on earth did he wish to be a mosquito when there are many other beautiful animals in choice? Well, that’s what maintained a deafening silence in the hall.

All participants left no stone unturned to give in the best on the topic they got. Despite the huge number of participants, the programme went very smoothly and successfully with a well delivered vote of thanks at the end.

I as a teacher and as an organizer feel very proud to commit the fact that the students came forward to participate. The applause at the end of the programme was not only for those who have delivered fabulously, but also for those daring hearts who took interest to participate. The weight of their participation will go a long way in their life. And the intensity of happiness it would contribute each passing day is beyond anybody’s imagination!
